The Scottish Highlands

Being in the Scottish Highlands in the autumn feels like you are in another country sometimes. The colour, the light, the textures and the feeling is pretty special and worth every step you take to reach the summits and take in those stunning views. On our recent trip we were even so lucky to have the weather that gave us a view from the top of Ben Nevis. Not everybody gets the scenery we did after climbing 1344 metres up.

This year and also next year you will find me posting images of the fabulous mountains of our very own UK as I accompany my husband as he goes about his training for his Mountain Leader qualification. These training treks can only be completed in Snowdonia, Scotland and The Lake District as these have the heights needed, so this will be our holidays for a while and my camera will always be with me. So enjoy the images and I’ll leave you with a quote that sums up my experience of these magical places.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.
John Muir
