So you’ve got engaged, congratulations and now your decision is should you choose an intimate wedding, or a mahoosive, full on, big celebration that last for three days?
My top tip, having captured weddings of all sizes … go with your gut instinct of what is right for you and your partner.
It is your wedding and you know what you both like. If you love to throw a huge party, then organise away. If you want to have a smaller celebration, then do not be pressured in to doing the opposite. Here are some thoughts on what can make the intimate wedding absolutely perfect.
You have far more unusual choices of venue as you are accommodating less people and every place has their own little look and style to be admired.
You get to enjoy the day with your real BFFs. You know, the ones that count and are there for you at all the stages in your life and not just the parties.
You can create an utterly chic styled look with your outfits as you can all chat about what everyone is wearing to make it more special.
Everyone gets to actually see you get married and say the vows you have chosen.
You can style a place more creatively and have it look more bespoke as you don’t have a huge hall to fill with decorations.
You can chose a menu to suit your tastes and have that champagne.
People often offer to help more with an intimate wedding as there is less pressure, such as making your cake.
You can hang out with the people that mean the most to you rather than standing in a receiving line for 45 minutes shaking hands with the daughter, of a friend, of a relative who you played with once as a child.
Your photography can be so much more fun as there are less people to try and get in to the right place at the tight scheduled time.
You can have the details captured, with more time available, such as tattoos that have significance, or have those images captured that show how gorgeous you look at this time in your lives.
Most importantly, you get to actually be together on Your wedding day, as opposed to running around trying to take it all in and be with every one of your 100 plus guests.
