I have been to a few weddings, when on the morning, the bridesmaids have forgotten how to lace up the wedding dress for the bride, so I thought I would post this little step by step guide for future brides to bookmark and have on their phones for that special morning.
I asked the expert advice of Tracey from One Stop Wedding Shop, because they understand how a dress should not only lace up, but enhance the figure in all the right places for a stunning shape.
Thanks to Tracey and her team for these wonderful tips on how to go about lacing a wedding dress.
Thread the lacing ribbon through the top loops and align the ends so they are even.
Always thread the lacing ribbon under and then over the loop.
Follow the pattern of crossing the lacing ribbon over the top in the same direction.
When the first lace up is complete, you will need to tighten to avoid gaps, like you can see at the top right of this image.
To tighten, simply go through each set of crossovers, pulling the slack and working your way down to the bottom.
To tighten the dress for a more secure fitting around the bust, pull in from the third set down, to avoid ‘back fat bulge’.
The end can be tied in a single bow. No double knot required. Keep the bow loops small for a prettier finish.
You can also tie the lacing ends like a tie knot and tuck into the dress.
Follow these simple steps for a flawless result and allow time to lace up your dress, get used to the feeling and then tighten the lacing again before you head out to dazzle your partner.
Great post with a lot of details and guidance & all pictures are looking awesome.
